Members of the Gloria Livestock Raisers Agriculture Cooperative (GLOLIVCO) received gilts — young female pigs raised for breeding — through the ASF Rehabilitation and Recovery Program of the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro, implemented by the Provincial Veterinary Office in partnership with the Municipal Government of Gloria.
Helping hog raisers get back on their feet
African Swine Fever (ASF) has hit backyard and small-scale hog raisers across the province hard. The provincial program supports the recovery of the swine industry by restocking farms with healthy breeding animals and helping families restore an important source of income.
For our cooperative, the dispersal is an important milestone. Gilts can grow into sows that produce piglets for many years, giving members a foundation to rebuild their herds — and the cooperative a chance to put its shared services, such as artificial insemination and training, to work.
Through unity in delivering government services, the sector is steadily recovering.

What this means for members
- Restocking: recipients can rebuild their swine herds with healthy breeding animals.
- Better genetics: combined with the cooperative’s artificial insemination services, members can improve litter quality over time.
- Biosecurity first: protecting the new animals from ASF is critical — read our biosecurity tips for hog raisers.
Thank you to our partners
